LEFT LUGGAGE

• Guest on checking out might want to leave baggage behind in situations where they have to make short trips and come back to the hotel. They would request for Left Luggage facilities.
“Mr. Sharma do you want us to take care of your luggage “

• While taking custody of the baggage check for the following things
• What is the expected duration of the custody?
• Whether it is a ‘Handle with care’ item.(Mark accordingly)
• Whether it is a ‘Costly item’ (politely refuse)
• Whether the luggage is locked. (Has to be Locked)
• Insist that the bags be locked
“May I request you to lock your luggage Mr. Sharma? “

• Check for the date of pick-up
“When do you expect to pick up the luggage Mr. Sharma?”

• Inform that the bags have to be screened.
“Mr. Sharma for security reasons we are required to put your luggage through metal detector, is it alright with you if we scan your luggage?”

• Issue baggage tags.
“Here is your luggage tag Mr. Sharma, Please present this tag to any Bell Assistant and we will retrieve the luggage for you. This tag is marked with a serial number Please keep this tag securely as we deliver the luggage only to the owner of the luggage on presenting this luggage tag.” “Is there anything else I can do for you sir? “

“Thank you Mr. Sharma and we will see you next week. Have a good day.”

• Prepare a baggage tag for the guest.

• State the hotel policy on returning the luggage only against the baggage tag. In case the bags are to be picked up by somebody else, then a written letter along with the tags would be required.

• Store the luggage in alphabetical order according to the expected day of pick-up.

• Make an appropriate entry into a Left Luggage Log.


Delivering the luggage from the area.

• Guest on his/her repeat visit would request for stored baggage.

• You would request for the Baggage Tag(s)
“Mr. Sharma can I have the baggage tags Please?”

• On receipt of the tag retrieve the appropriate baggage and deliver it to the guest
The guest would want it either brought up to the room or to be loaded on to a vehicle.

• Take a signature of the guest for proper delivery.

Make an appropriate entry into Left Luggage Log.
